Teknovus’ EPON OLT SoCs support the needs of more than 35 major carrier/service provider access networks serving residential (single-family and MDU) and business (SMB, enterprise, and MTU) subscribers, as well as cellular/WiMAX/femtocell/picocell telephone backhaul applications.  In addition to chips, Teknovus provides carrier-grade application firmware, enabling system-vendor OEMs to quickly develop applications that take advantage of advanced chip features such as multi-service traffic management and shaping, IP multicast services, billing, and network diagnostics.

To meet the needs of subscribers and carrier business models, real-world triple-play networks face the challenge of continuously delivering an endlessly-varying combination of bursty MPEG-compressed video, latency-sensitive VoIP calls, and Internet traffic. High capacity traffic management and shaping in the central office/head-end are required to satisfy these requirements – yet may add many thousands of dollars in CapEx. The TK3723, for example, has more than 2,000 shapers and supports up to 512MB of packet buffering – enabling 2-5 seconds of buffering per IPTV channel, while grooming network traffic to optimize utilization while maintaining guaranteed service levels.

Teknovus is a leading developer of 10G EPON chips and firmware.  In addition to the IEEE 802.3av feature set, Teknovus’ 10G EPON EVB system supports triple-lambda wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) downstream operation at 1.25G, 2.5G and 10G simultaneously.  This allows system vendors to do extensive testing of co-existence between 10G and currently deployed networks, which is of critical importance for carriers’ network upgrade plans. The 10G EVB system also supports the same value-added features that exist in Teknovus’ current-generation chips, such as: support for M-LLID, flexible Hardware-based DBA to ensure strict and accurate SLA (Service Level Agreement) enforcement, guaranteed service level isolation, and predictable fairness under heavy traffic loads.  Teknovus is a leading developer of 10G EPON SoCs as well – with 10G evaluation board systems available today – that will coexist with 1.25Gbps and 2.5Gbps networks using WDM.
