The TK3721 is a complete System-On-Chip (SoC) Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) MAC controller for Optical Line Terminals (OLTs). The TK3721 is IEEE standards-compliant, and enables service providers to deploy triple-play services over fiber optic networks – without replacing existing infrastructures.
Designed for access networks serving both business and residential subscribers, the TK3721 provides all the built-in functionality and performance required for OLTs delivering triple-play services. An EPON MAC is combined with a configurable VLAN switch and bi-directional traffic shaping and scheduling support. A configurable DBA adapts to multiple service provider requirements without sacrificing performance. Teknovus’ unique Multiple Logical Links architecture supports up to 192 dedicated links for bi-directional services, such as VoIP and IPTV. The TK3721 supports guaranteed rates for both per-subscriber and per-service contracts.
As part of the Teknovus line of gigabit EPON chips – the only chips in the industry that fully support EPON IPTV and triple-play services – the TK3721 revolutionizes Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB) and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) solutions. By accessing shared fiber optic networks – minimizing fiber deployment, eliminating outside plant devices, and reducing optical ports at the Central Office – the TK3721 decreases both the capital and operational expenses of FTTB and FTTH systems.
The TK3721 is compatible with all Teknovus Optical Network Unit (ONU) chipsets. With its feature-rich architecture and cost-effective functionality, the TK3721 chip is the best solution for OLTs delivering cost-effective triple-play services over FTTB and FTTH access networks.
