Reference Designs
Teknovus reference designs and evaluation platforms provide complete hardware/software environments for test and development of high performance EPON OLTs (Optical Line Terminals) and ONUs (Optical Network Terminals) used in service provider access networks. Leveraging commercially-available Teknovus and third-party components, the systems support Turbo-EPON™ 1.25/2.5Gbps as well as advanced L2/L3/L4 classification/filtering, VLAN switching, queuing, traffic management and shaping, hardware DBA, and IGMP Multicast proxy functionality.
Applications of Teknovus Reference Designs
- Laboratory and field test of multi-rate 1.25Gbps and 2.25Gbps EPON deployments of 64 or more ONUs per PON;
- Facilitation of NMS (Network Management System) integration evaluation and test;
- Service model development and evaluation, for subscriber markets such as business services, residential, multi-dwelling/tenantsubscribers, as well as timing-sensitive TDM/PWE3 applications including cellular base-station backhaul and T1/E1/J1 connectivity;
- Optical subsystem evaluation of split ratio and loss budget;
- Evaluation and development of OAM (Operations and Maintenance) service models and protocols, including standard IEEE, CTC,and proprietary extensions;
- Use as a reference for OEM/custom schematic and layout designs and fabrication.
